Philosophy Workshop "The Art of Disagreeing Well"

  • Brig Cafe 54-57 Allison Street Birmingham, England, B5 5TH United Kingdom (map)

In this session, we will turn our attention to Disagreeing Well.

Savannah is a facilitator who helps people navigate disagreement and understand one another across divides. She has extensive experience leading workshops on topics almost guaranteed to surface differences - politics, conflict, identity - giving people the tools to welcome important discussions confidently and safely, rather than shut them down.

Her TEDx talk, Being Right Is Overrated, sets out the belief behind her work: that when engaging with people we disagree with, the goal isn't to win the argument, but to build the relationship. She brings this same practical approach to the Disagreeing Well workshop, helping people practise disagreement in low-stakes settings so the skills are there when it counts.

As always, The Philosopher’s Yard provides a welcoming space for thoughtful dialogue and reflection. Whether you are well-versed in philosophy or simply curious, this is an opportunity to share perspectives and engage with others in a friendly, open environment.

The event will take place at BRIG Café at The Warehouse, located in Birmingham city centre.

Tickets are £5, with a buy one, get one free offer if you're attending with a friend. As a registered charity, all ticket revenue supports Philosophers' Yard events and activities.

If paying for a ticket is not financially feasible, please contact thephilosophersyard@gmail.com. A small number of free tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We look forward to seeing you there.
