Philosophical Practices
The Philosophical Practices course invites a transformative approach to philosophy — one that deepens both intellectual engagement and personal growth. Through a range of enjoyable and thought-provoking practices, the course fosters a more reflective, connected, and thoughtful way of being — both with others and with ideas. Students will cultivate essential philosophical skills while exploring engaging and stimulating practices that can enrich everyday life and self-understanding.
During these sessions, participants learn and explore specific practices. We also delve into philosophical and scientific concepts to deepen our understanding of these practices and their benefits in our lives. Each session begins with a check-in to create space for the practice and ends with a breakout session to discuss and reflect on our experiences.
The goal is not only to contemplate our ideas but also to reflect on how we interact with and perceive the world around us. This blend of reflection and exploration - this serious play - helps us get beyond ourselves, influencing our participation in future Philosophers’ Yard events and our lives as a whole.
Come, practice, and transform yourself in our edifying Curious Creative Community.
Who is this course for?
These beginner-friendly sessions are designed for individuals eager to deepen their conversations and to elevate their philosophical thinking. Both in our everyday lives and our philosophy, we can easily fall into our usual patterns of behaviour. These events help us re-examine our normal and create a safe container for this exploration and growth. They also train us in skills we often use without realising and can easily forget to use, bringing them to the foreground in order to develop them further.
Remember: the love of wisdom is not merely an intellectual exercise; Philo-sophia is a way of living.
