Our framework for nurturing a diverse community of curious minds

The Philosophers’ Yard is a 100% volunteer-led organisation creating inclusive forums for dialogue across difference, using philosophy not as an abstract academic discipline but as a lived, shared, and practical tool for reflection, connection, and growth. Through public events, courses, and workshops, we make philosophy something people can experience together in everyday life.

Our work is guided by three core values — Curiosity, Creativity and Community — which shape not only what we explore, but how we explore it. Since launching, the average rating for feeling welcome, safe and respected at our events is 4.9 out of 5, reflecting the strength of the culture we intentionally cultivate.

It is this success in creating a diverse, welcoming and curious community that we want to pass on through our Dialogue Across Difference framework. We welcome the opportunity to work with organisations and event organisers to explore how this framework can support inclusive public engagement, meaningful dialogue, and stronger communities.
