Join us at our Philosophy Meetup to have interesting discussions on the topic of 'Environmentalism' :)
In this session, we will turn our attention to Environmentalism: What role does nature play in your life? How should urban spaces honour and integrate nature? How do we balance human needs with the needs of the natural world?
This meetup will feature a talk from Noama Chaudhry, the Campaigns Coordinator at Birmingham Friends of the Earth. Birmingham Friends of the Earth is a local grassroots organisation championing environmental justice. Noama has volunteered for various environmental and social justice causes for years and is a believer in interconnectedness that many indigenous communities hold central to their values and beliefs. Thus, intersectional environmentalism, centring the earth, nature and community, is key to philosophical practice.
The meetup will also start with a pre-recorded poetry set from Ayan Mahamud, Birmingham-based poet and owner of an arts initiative and creative hub AGEM, which provides creative workshops, exhibitions and poetry showcases with a focus on mental wellbeing.
As always, The Philosopher’s Yard provides a welcoming space for thoughtful dialogue and reflection. Whether you are well-versed in philosophy or simply curious, this is an opportunity to share perspectives and engage with others in a friendly, open environment.
The event will take place at BRIG Café at The Warehouse, located in Birmingham city centre.
