Logic and Intuition

Join Us for The Philosopher's Yard Meetup: Exploring "Logic and Intuition"

Register on Eventbrite

In this session, we will delve into thought-provoking questions about Logic and Intuition: Can you recall a time when you trusted your intuition, and it paid off? What’s a decision you’ve made recently using mostly logic? How do feelings shift your ability to access logic or intuition?

Join us in a neutral, welcoming space designed to encourage open dialogue and self-reflection. Whether you are a seasoned philosopher or simply someone who enjoys deep conversations, this is an opportunity to share your perspectives and listen to diverse viewpoints from fellow curious minds.

This meetup will feature a short talk from Tom Peel, SEND Music Practitioner and the founder of Overhear, a geolocation-based audio app and arts organisation. He works at the intersection of music, education, and technology, designing creative projects that encourage curiosity, listening and connection. During his presentation, Tom will share insights drawn from Iain McGilchrist’s ideas on the hemispheres of the brain and how they shape our ways of attending to the world. His talk will challenge the simplistic "right brain = creative, left brain = logical" narrative, exploring instead how the hemispheres work together in nuanced, complementary ways.

The event will take place at BRIG Café at The Warehouse, located in the Birmingham city centre. The ambiance is perfect for connecting with others who, like you, are searching for deeper understanding and meaningful connections.

Tickets are £5. As a registered charity, all revenue generated from tickets will go, in full, towards supporting Philosophers' Yard events and activities.

If paying for a ticket is not financially feasible for you or our ticketing system presents some other barrier, please contact thephilosophersyard@gmail.com. We have a small number of free tickets that will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis, no questions asked.

We look forward to seeing you there!
